Thursday 6th March was a very special day in school as it marked World Book Day 2014. We joined in with thousands of other children all around the globe, by making it a day to remember. As has become a Totley tradition, we once again dressed up as our favourite book characters. During the morning, various book-themed activities took place, such as designing board games, book covers and book marks. Lots of team work was evident in projects such as producing giant dragon art (inspired by Cressida Cowell’s “How to Train your Dragon” and amazing life-sized “BFGs” chalked onto the junior yard (Roald Dahl – of course!).

In the afternoon, we enjoyed an hour of DEAR (drop everything and read). Classes were mixed up to give the older children the chance to read with younger ones and generally enjoy a bit of bonding time. We finished off the day with a special assembly, when we got together to share some of the beautiful work we had done, and had the chance to see each others’ spectacular costumes in the same place at the same time! Well done to all the staff and children for getting into the spirit of the day and making it such a memorable occasion.
