Hello and welcome to Year Two Blyton!

Thank you so much for all your lovely letters – we have really enjoyed reading them and are so impressed with your handwriting and spelling. You have asked lots of great questions. Here are a few answers to questions that many of you were interested in. We will also spend lots of time in the first few days getting to know each other, the classroom. Year Two routines and making our class rules.

What is year  Two like?
It is very similar to Year One-although we teach the whole class all at the same time and there is no choose time. You do Math, English, Guided Reading, PE, Science and Topics (Geography, History, Art, D&T etc). Our first Topic is going to be all about exploring our world.
Where will I sit?
We’re not sure yet and you will be moved around often to get experience sitting with a range of your classmates.
Will I make things and paint?
Yes, just like Y1 our topics are very creative.
Will I get to play?
Yes- morning and afternoon is playtime outside – unless it is raining very heavily.
Will we go on trips?
Hopefully if guidelines around Covid/ Corona virus say it is safe to do so, then yes we will.
What days will I have the teachers?
Mrs Huckerby will teach you Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesday morning and Mrs Buck will teach you, Wednesday afternoons, Thursdays and Fridays.
What books do we read?
We visit the library everyday and you read in class daily – often when you come in from playtime and lunch as well as Guided Reading. At the end of the day we share a class story. Here are some examples:
The Magic Faraway Tree, George’s Marvelous Medicine, Aesop Fables, Utterly Brilliant Poetry, Sheep Pig, The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me, The Worst Witch,  plus many more.

We can not wait to meet you all and hope you are looking forward to starting in September – we certainly are!

Have a fabulous transition week and summer holiday. We look forward to seeing you all in September!

Until then, here is a little video from us.

Welcome to  Y2 Blyton
