FS2 Home Learning Week 2

Hello everyone!

Hope you have had a lovely Easter break and the Easter bunny was generous in his deliveries!

We have really enjoyed seeing what you have been up to through your emails and tweets! We really miss you all and wish that we were welcoming you back in to school tomorrow.. but please keep sending us lots of photos, videos and messages of the things you get up to whilst learning at home.

This half term we are going to start a new topic and our big question is, ‘What makes our world super?’. We are going to start off by looking at some of the animals that make our world super! We are going to link this through our art and look at the paintings of a famous artist called Henri Rousseau,

Henri Rousseau - Wikipedia        Tiger In A Tropical Storm (Surprised) 1891 Painting | Henri ...

He was a french painter and is very famous for his paintings of animals in the wild. We have put a link to a PowerPoint for you to watch about his art work, maybe you could find out some more information about him using the internet with your adults?

We will also be continuing to practice our word and sentence writing as we were getting really good at this before we finished. There is a word mat to help you with this and a booklet with some pictures for you to either print off and write in or use the pictures as inspiration for writing in your workbooks we sent home.

In Maths we are going to be practicing our number bonds to 5 and 10 and writing these as number sentences and then we are going to look at capacity and how much different containers can hold!

Remember to keep looking at those phonic sounds and practice writing them and reading them in words. Don’t forget to also keep practicing those high frequency and tricky words too.

Here is this weeks timetable:  WEEK 2 Timetable

Rousseau jungles

Picture writing prompts

Animals CiP mat

Scavenger Hunt Checklist

There is also a new feature on the Bug Club website called ‘Maths Factor’. The subscriptions are free and there are a range of activities on there, plus teaching from Carol Vorderman! You’ll find it here,

If you have any problems, please email Mrs Llewellyn.

Please keep in touch as we love hearing from you and it makes our day to see the amazing learning you have been doing! If there are any problems please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Reading Games!

Morning FS2!

Miss Coupe here 🙂 I’m sat at my laptop looking out of my window at this beautiful weather, I hope you’re able to get out in your gardens and enjoy it too!

I was having a think of some different ways you could keep practising those words that we find tricky, or the ones we see all the time in our reading and Pinterest and Instagram had lots of ideas…

I really like this one, making your own hopscotch grid and filling it with sight words!

Get your grown-ups to write them and you brush them away, after reading them!

Make a car park for your toy cars…

For those of you who like a bit of football…

Put the words on to your twister mat if you have one!

There’s also a great idea where you write the words on empty bottles and then play bowling, reading the words that you have knocked down.

You could also write the words on pieces of paper and stick in different parts of your house or on doors and when you go in to that room you have to read them.

We have also placed them in our outdoor area before and then fired water at them using our water guns, reading the ones we hit!

All of the words you need to be practising we have sent in your home learning packs on these sheets,

but I have also attached this from Twinkl that has a range of different words that children will come across in their early reading.

Word Mat

Enjoy, and keep sending us pictures or emails updating us on what your are getting up to or any great stories that you have read that you want to share with the class 🙂

Please also email any of us if you have any questions.
