Yesterday we had two very special guests in our assembly to celebrate a very special achievement of two of our pupils. Gemma, a fundraiser from the Sheffield Children’s hospital, brought Theo the bear along to school to say thank you to the two girls and acknowledge their achievement. Jess and Sofia in Y5 decided they wanted to fundraise for the charity after seeing the impact the hospital had on a number of their classmates. In the summer, they undertook a climb at the Climbing Works and set themselves a challenge of climbing the equivalent height of El Capitan – a mighty mountain in Yosemite. This meant climbing the height of the wall of the Climbing Works 150 x each over the course of 2 days, in a tag team. In total, they blasted their initial target of £1000 out of the water and raised just over £1700! This money will go towards the hospital’s Make it Better project – to improve facilities for children and their families – where they are aiming to raise 10 million pounds.
We are so proud of these two girls and all they have achieved! They have really lived up to our motto that Good Friends Stick Together – in more ways than one!
