Y3 have had a brilliant time over the past few weeks with their puppet topic. Throughout the learning journey, the children have been working towards giving a puppet show performance for Y1 children. First they worked in groups to create storyboards, characters and write scripts. Then it was time to design and make the puppets. The children critiqued each other’s designs to make lots of improvements along the way, so that the finished puppets were the best they could be. Finally, it was time to put it all together and perform for the Y1 children, after rehearsing like mad!

“I really enjoyed the show. The puppets were very good and made me laugh” – Freddie Y1

Meanwhile in science, we have linked in the topic of light and shadow and looked at what happens to the shadows our puppets make when put in front of a light source. We thought about how we could change the shadows in different ways and how we could measure the changes like true scientists!

Homework around this topic has been brilliant, with many children bringing in amazing home made theatres or slideshows for us to watch. What a fantastic effort Y3!!
